Today was Veteran's Day. Thank you to all you veterans out there who have done so much for us and our country. Thank you also for allowing my husband a day off work to celebrate you.
We went to the Georgia Veteran's State Park to celebrate. I'd like to say that was planned, but, well, it borders the closest lake to us. But still fitting.
Jordan and I have really enjoyed "hiking" (more like "trail walking," since Lexi can't do anything strenuous yet) with Lexi lately, so we decided to check out the local state park. The trail was kind of lame, and there are gnats everywhere still (everyone who said the gnats were gone during the winter lied! Or maybe there is no winter in Georgia. After all, it was 78 degrees today), but we still had a good old time. We enjoyed a picnic lunch as well.
We decided to wander over to the beach and at first, Lexi would not even put one paw in the water. She hasn't really had great experiences with water--once, Jordan and I were swimming in our apartment's pool and we let her run around the pool area. She decided that Jordan was in trouble and jumped in and then freaked out, even though she swam fine. She won't go near the pool now. And she hates taking baths--she always cries.
Anyway, at first she wouldn't put her paws in, but I got a running start with her and she got in. After a bit she started to think it was fun and was bouncing all around in the water. Check out our video for some cute footage.
PS: We left her leash on when she was loose for two reasons: her recall isn't 100% yet and it's easier to catch a runaway puppy with a 5 foot lead trailing behind her, and there was a park rule that all dogs had to be on a leash. However, the rule did not say the leash needed to be attached to a person ;)

looks like fun.
I can't believe while you are playing in the water, we are FREEZING here in SLC! How fun to have a lake so close by, it looked like Lexi had a great time.
