Logan's First Tahoe Trip

One thing that I insisted on during my California trip was that we go up to the cabin at Tahoe. I hadn't been in two years, and it's my favorite place ever, so I was so excited to go and to take Logan with! Brett and Michelle were in school so we could only go for the weekend, but it was totally worth it.

We drove up Friday afternoon. We didn't get to Tahoe till 7:00 but I wanted to stop and walk on the beach.

We got up to the cabin. Isn't it great? We are so lucky to have this getaway in the woods. My Grandpa Gallacher built it with my dad and his brothers-in-law thirty years ago.

Mom and I stayed in the master bedroom upstairs with Logan. He slept in the pack'n'play.

The next morning, once everyone got up, we headed out to Sand Harbor, our favorite beach! Matt had gotten there at midnight on Friday. He had driven all the way from Provo. He brought his frisbee and rugby ball so he and Brett and Dad played on the beach.

Mom, Michelle, Logan and I just hung out.

I bought Logan a little SPF tent so that he could comfortably nap on the beach. He seemed to enjoy it!

Of course, he'd rather nap on Grandpa. My dad kept saying Logan must be uncomfortable because of his rock-hard stomach! :)

Here we are in the beautiful lake!

Dipping his toes into the lake--it was REALLY cold so I wasn't sure what he would do, but he didn't seem to mind it at all!

Beach time cuddles!

Michelle was nice enough to carry Logan back from the beach for me!

That evening we went out to a yummy Mexican food dinner and then watched a movie and just hung out. My Grandpa and Grandma Gallacher came up to the cabin too, along with my aunt Lynn and her son Jason.

Here's Logan and cousin Jason.

On Sunday morning, we decided to take a little hike down to the beach. It was about a fifteen minute hike to the beach. Dad carried Logan in the baby carrier while the rest of us carried beach chairs and towels.

It was pretty windy, so it made some pretty big waves.

Dad had bought a couple of wet suits a few weeks ago, and we decided to give them a try since the water was only 55 degrees. Usually we swim in it without wet suits, but with the wind it was a bit chilly! The wet suits made it really fun, though.

Mom was nice enough to let Logan nap on her while Dad and I swam.

After we got back from our hike, we had a super yummy dinner of BBQ chicken and then packed everything up so we could get back to Wilton. Matt was going to leave his car at the cabin and then come back a few days later, help Grandpa with some cabin maintenance, and then leave for Utah.

Unfortunately, when we were driving down the Sierras, my parents' Suburban broke down. It's a 2000, so it's 13 years old. It stalled out (we found out later that the fuel pump was broken) and we were able to get to the side of the road. We were lucky because if we'd gone 50 more yards, we would have been on a downhill curve with cars coming at us at 65 MPH. It was kind of scary. We called AAA for a tow, and my grandparents came over to get us. Me, Logan, and Matt ended up driving back with them to the cabin to get Matt's car. While we were gone, the tow truck came and got the Suburban. Mom and Brett rode in the tow truck and Dad and Michelle rode in the Suburban. The truck dropped Mom, Brett, and Michelle off at a sketchy Burger King in the middle of nowhere. Then it took Dad and the Suburban to a Chevrolet dealership about an hour away.

Soooo Grandpa and Grandma drove me and Logan while Matt followed (in his really, really old Camry). We picked up Mom and the kids around 9:30 at the sketchy BK, then went to get Dad. It was too late for them to fix the Suburban, of course, so we had to unload everything out of the Suburban and squeeze it into Matt's Camry and Grandma and Grandpa's car. We were pretty packed.

We finally got home around midnight that night. I was really glad that Logan pretty much slept through the whole six-hour ordeal, but unfortunately that meant that he woke up at 3:30 am and wouldn't go back to sleep for anything. But I guess that's better than him being up and screaming during that crazy event.

Anyway, the whole thing finally convinced Dad that he should probably buy a new car. He's been thinking about it for a year but he is very cautious about spending money, but having both his cars break down within two weeks of each other (the Accord's starter had gone out when Mom and I were at Toys'R'Us the week before) finally made him break down and buy himself a new car. He works so hard, he deserves it!

Isn't it pretty? Brand new 2013 Honda Accord!
So that was our Tahoe trip. It got a little crazy at the end there, but all's well that ends well!
